STOP FACIAL RECOGNITION FROM SPREADING IN CALIFORNIA
There is a terrible, pro-facial recognition bill moving through the California legislature right now, and in order to stop it lawmakers need to hear from you.
Lawmakers in California are trying to push a “regulatory” bill that would significantly expand law enforcement use of facial recognition in the state. AB 642 would grant departments permission to establish real-time mass surveillance networks across entire communities, giving them unprecedented power to automatically track us without our consent – recording where we go and who we know.
If AB 642 passes, it will supercharge racially biased policing and incarceration, and further endanger Black people, poor people, immigrants, activists, women, and LGBTQ people. We can’t let this happen. Tell lawmakers today that there is no safe way to use facial recognition – we need to ban it.
